DESCRIPTION

The course will examine the psychological constructs of social cognition and social representation, focusing on early ontogeny but covering also adolescence and adulthood. Students will learn about the specific aspects of social-cognitive development, including social perception, theory of mind, thinking and reflection, construction of critical thought and about the current theories of social representation. The content will also touch upon the role of language skills and executive functions in social-cognitive development, as well as on the contraints in atypical development. As the development of social cognition lies inherently in an interaction between genetic and environmental factors, the effect of social, communal and cultural influences will frequently resurface.
